Chip is a wonderfully sweet boy estimated around 4 to 5 years of age. Chip originally came to us in January of 2014 as a leggy young boy and has been in an adoptive home for the last 1.5 years however Chip was recently found roaming and his adopter was no where to be found. Chip is now searching for a new home that will commit to the rest of his life.
Chip is very people friendly if not a tad over-attached. He is a bit insecure so the closer he can get to you the better in his mind but he doesn't understand that large dogs are not lap dogs. He does well with children with the only concern being that he will jump and "hug" people so he could accidently knock a kiddo over. This is not a malicious or even rambunctious thing but more of an attempt to be closer to people and get attention. He is definitely very stressed with the recent upheaval of his life and has a lot of insecurities at the moment.
Chip does wonderful with other dogs and was adopted into a home with another shepherd mix. He is a friendly and playful dog who can be a total hoot in the play yard. He does try to put on an air of dominance at first but doesn't have anything to back it up if challenged and leans more to the submissive side of things. He is a rough and tumble boy with other dogs that will match him but is also a peace maker in general. Chip has been tested around cats and has no thoughts of challenging their authority. He doesn't currently live with cats and we always advise a careful transition period.
Chip is searching for a loving family who will provide him with the stability and comfort that every dog deserves as they age. If you are interested in providing Chip a home please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.petfinder.com for FAQs
