Freya is a beautiful young girl who is 9 months of age (DOB 12/2018) who is a Belgian Malinois mix. Freya originally came to us at 4 weeks of age after her litter, and Malinois mother, were found abandoned during a polar vortex. Freya was quickly adopted as a young puppy and unfortunately has been returned as the cat in the home was not adjusting well. Freya was at no fault in this and is heartbroken to have been uprooted.
Freya is a wonderfully friendly, fun, and loving young girl. She has a good foundation of socialization and is a quick learner who is eager to please her people. Freya has been around a wide variety of people and public situations which she handles with ease. She is still a pup though and can get very rambunctious and jumpy at times. She finds kids especially fun to jump on but is quickly learning that isn't the best way to get attention. She has been around children 7 years and up but has not been around any smaller children. While she could likely adjust to a home with younger children there would need to be a clear plan in place by the responsible adults to ensure that safe boundaries are set for everyone. Freya is a typical young, active Malinois and although not overly drivey she loves her toys and will happily play all day.
Freya loves other dogs and is quick to make new friends. She leans to the submissive side of things in play groups and tends to fly under the radar despite the fact she is larger than most of her playmates. Freya enjoys roughhousing, chasing, and generally romping with the other dogs in her foster home. She has also been an only dog and done well with visiting dog parks to get social needs met. Freya has lived with cats since 4 weeks of old and always known them as the rulers of the house. She has no interest in the cats and can easily adjust to a home with cats.
Freya is searching for a fur-ever home that understands her needs as a young high energy, large breed dog to have ongoing socialization, guidance, and loyalty. She is a loving and loyal girl who has lots of kisses to give a family.
