Grit is a lovely young Shepherd around 5 months of age (estimated DOB February 2019) who found himself in rescue when his owner past away suddenly. Extended family was unable to take Grit in but described him as a loyal and sweet pup. Grit has been through a lot of emotions but is ultimately a fun-loving puppy. He isn't really sure where he fits in the world and likes to explore, bark, push boundaries, and play. Grit has done wonderful with everyone he meets from the 7 year old who visits him regularly to the big bad vet techs who did his medical. Ultimately, Grit is just a pup who is in need to socialization, training, and lots of playtime. He loves going into the creek and on short hikes with his foster family. He isn't trusted loose in the house as he loves to chew but does great with supervision and enjoys his crate time to decompress. Grit is fostered with other dogs 20 - 70 lbs and does wonderful. He is quick to play and loves to romp with all of his foster siblings. He is a leggy pup making for constant laughs when he gets tripped up while trying to rough house. He has a good understanding of social behavior though and does well meeting new dogs. Grit is also fostered with a cat who prefers to look down on the dogs and not interact. He has had limited direct interactions with her and been appropriately curious. Given boundaries and training he should be just fine living with a cat; however, he is a puppy and without structure he could just as easily become a terror to the cat. Grit is searching for an active and adventurous family to call his own and grow into the wonderful dog we know he will become.
