Ruthie is a beautiful girl around 3 years of age who is learning how to trust. Ruthie was born on a farm in a rural county where she was part of a feral pack of Shepherd used for breeding. The shelter was able to live trap Ruthie and she has spent the last couple of months in foster care learning what human interaction is. Ruthie is still very timid when meeting new people and prefers to keep her distance. She is slow to warm up and still occasionally shies away from her foster family although she has gotten familiar and friendly with them. She is doing her best to open up and coming along wonderfully for having been without kind human contact her whole life. Ruthie has been around older children and does okay with kids 7 + years of age that understand to give her space and respect. Ruthie was a rockstar at the vet clinic and was cautiously friendly with all of the vet techs that tended to her. Even at her most scared Ruthie has never offered to snap or bite; however, we certainly wouldn’t recommend placing her in a position where she feels it’s necessary to defend herself. Ruthie does wonderful with other dogs and relates to them much better than she does people. She is fostered with other Shepherds and hasn’t had any issues adjusting to different play groups. She does well meeting new dogs on leash as well and is a generally middle line personality – not dominant but not a push over either. Ruthie has not been around cats or small dogs at this point. Ruthie is searching for a loving home that will give her the patience and guidance to continue to overcome her past. She has a lot of love to give once she warms up and is going to be an amazing companion to whomever invests the time into her.
