Dexter is a sweet old man who was recently returned to Tier Haven through no fault of his own. Dexter was adopted 7 years ago and is now around 10 years of age. As he ages it seems Dexter is loosing eyesight and unfortunately the home he has been in from the past 7 years didn't want to accommodate him in his golden years. Dexter is very kind and sweet with people however you have to talk to him to make sure he knows you are there. If you don't talk to him and move slowly it startles him. Dexter is very upset after being surrendered and isn't wanting much to do with people. This is understandable given his situation and we are hopeful that he can find a home that appreciates his loyal and loving nature. Dexter has been living in a home with young children for many years however it is best that he be around children 5 years and up who are able to respect his space and needs as a senior dog. Dexter has always lived with other dogs and is a generally submissive guy. He can be defensive with pushy dogs or if a dog jumps on him unexpectedly - remember life is scary when you are hard of sight and hearing. Dexter has no problem living with other settled dogs. Dexter has also been around cats on a limited basis and always do very well as he has no interest with them.
