About Daphne

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
Daphne is a beautiful young girl estimated to be around 1.5 - 2 years of age. Daphne was a stray therefore we do not know her past but we do know that she is joyfully looking forward to her future. Daphne has an abundant love of life and is always up for an adventure. She loves meeting new people but understands that she has to behave out in public - she can be a bit more of a wild child at home. She excitedly greets everyone she meets though and is always nearby to cheer up a sad friend. She is happy to keep people on their toes and laughing wondering what she is going to come up with next even if it is just an extra funny position on the couch. She loves cuddling on the couch and once she gets settled makes an excellent movie companion. Daphne has spent a lot of time with a 7 year old who visits her foster home frequently and has no problem letting the kiddo walk her through stores and romps with her in the yard. Daphne can be unaware of her limbs at times though and will accidentally knock over the kiddo who is a good sport about it. We wouldn't recommend Daphne for a home with children under 5 or kids that aren't used to being around dogs knowing that Daphne is likely to bump into them. One of Daphne's favorite pastimes is hiking and she is particularly fond of water features. She loves hanging out in the creek at her foster home and likes getting to splash around. This doesn't translate into loving bath time sadly but she is still good for her grooming. Daphne is fostered with multiple other dogs size 20 lbs and up that she loves getting to romp and rough house with in the yard. She has been around puppies as small as 10 lbs but needs more supervision with them due to her rough play style. Daphne is a pro at meeting new dogs in public and has a more submissive attitude when out and about. She can be a brat when new dogs come to her house but settles down quickly. Daphne loves other dogs and is always up for a romp, chase, or tug with anyone that'll play. Daphne also lives with a cat and while they have been caught napping together whenever the cat is in motion Daphne is right behind it. She learns and improves daily but we would not recommend her for a home with cats unless there was a clear plan in place for ensuring the safety of everyone while Daphne receives further training. As mentioned Daphne does have a wonky gait and cannot always control her finer motor skills. It is suspected that Daphne has damage to her cerebellum but since she is a stray there is not sure way to know what happened. Daphne has been cleared by the vet and has shown no signs of progression or worsening. Daphne simply needs a home that loves her for her unique style of moving through the world. Daphne is searching for a family that will keep her sense of adventure satisfied and cherish her funny running style. If this is you please email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application.
