Puma is a beautiful male Shepherd estimated around 6 years of age. Puma was a stray and has clearly had a very hard life. He was extremely emaciated and had generalized hair loss upon arrival. While Puma still has weight to gain and hair to grow he has made tremendous progress. Puma has been friendly and social with everyone he meets although he likes you more if you give him a toy. Puma is a playful, vocal, and sweet guy and has a forever puppy personality. As Puma gains health he is becoming more energetic and appreciates going for walks or getting to play in the yard. Puma enjoys being right in the middle of the action and participating through whines and head-tilts. Puma does great for his frequent bathing and appreciates a good scratch during shampoo time. Although he is able to walk loose at this foster home Puma picks up leash manners quickly and is able to go through pet stores calmly and greet everyone kindly. Puma is with other Shepherds and Shepherd mixes in his foster home but hasn't be very interested in playing. He meets other dogs well and mostly ignores them as he would rather be playing with a toy or person. Puma is NOT cat friendly as he shows a high prey drive that does not lend well to a home with cats or small dogs. Puma is searching for a home that appreciates his playful personality and can give him the space to continue to recover his health while also ensuring he continues to be a good canine citizen.
