Fred, known as Frado when he came to us, is a beautiful young Shepherd. We do not know much of his history however he is looking forward to living a new life in an adoptive home.
Socially awkward and gangly Fred is learning to be confident in new social situations. He can be a bit shy at first and may bark but once he realizes he is safe Fred is all playful pup. He loves to get scratches, roughhousing, or just keep your feet warm while you watch movies. He is roughly the same height as the kitchen counter and will help himself to veggies if you aren't careful. He also enjoys accompanying you on trips to the fridge to see what you might drop. Fred has been introduced to a child - who was watching a movie at the time - and proceeded to give her a big kiss and then lay at her feet and stare at the TV screen. It was a pretty funny scene and thank goodness the kiddo is a good sport. They have since become good friends and Fred is learning not to knock her over - that is a work in progress still. Fred seems to be a typical young Shepherd who is in need to guidance and confidence to figure out what his role is in the household. As with all Shepherds it is extremely important that Fred receive proper socialization and positive training to ensure he remains a good canine citizen and does not become reactive or overly protective which is common with Shepherds.
Fred loves other dogs and is a very playful young guy. He is all legs and teeth while romping with his foster siblings. He is very bouncy and energetic with other dogs which can be a lot like having a bull in the house when they get going but it is all in good fun. Fred is in a foster home with a puppy around 17 lbs big and does wonderfully with him. Fred met him well and proceeded to make fast friends. He is also lives with a cat although he doesn't realize when she is around 98% of the time and ignores her the other 2% of the time. He may be more nosy with a more active cat but thus far he doesn't seem to have any issues coexisting with a cat.
Fred is searching for a home that understands the needs of an energetic young Shepherd and will provide him with the guidance and boundaries he needs to grow into the wonderful canine citizen we know he can be.
