About Wolfgang

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes
Please visit Tierhaven.petfinder.com for information on our adoption process and fee Wolfgang is a beautiful young Shepherd who is just over a year of age. Wolfgang was surrendered to us after his original owners go divorced and realized that they didn't have the time to socialize, exercise, and train a young Shepherd. Wolfgang has missed a lot of key socialization and experiences therefore he is playing a 'catch-up' game to ensure he develops into a well-rounded boy. Within his family Wolfgang loves to cuddle, play in the yard, and always be with his people. He is a loving and loyal boy true to the nickname "Shadow Shepherd". Wolfgang lived in a household with children and friends visiting however he was not often taken out to socialize. Wolfgang can occasionally be vocal when meeting new people however his foster is continuing to work on his behavior with great progress. Wolfgang is in the middle of his 'fear period' and in need to guidance to ensure that he develops confidence in appropriate behaviors. This means positive reinforcement for good behaviors and clear boundaries around inappropriate behaviors. Wolfgang has lived with other dogs and a cat although he currently only lives with other dogs. He is still learning his social role and can be inappropriate at times bouncing between submissive and dominant. Wolfgang is nervous meeting new dogs but after proper introductions is super playful. His current friends include a 40 lb mix breed puppy and a senior beagle who bosses him around. He and the other pup love to run in the yard. Wolfgang is a long haired Shepherd but have never been groomed as he 'didn't seem to like the brush'. He does have to be muzzled during grooming right now but is improving with consistent work. Wolfgang was simply left to his own devices and truly has no concept of the world or coping skills for new situations. When Wolfgang is asked to enter a new situation where he is unsure he will panic and become a professional collar slipper. He is simply scared of the unknown and needs to be given positive experiences to help him develop the confidence to move forward. Wolfgang is a diamond in the rough who is going to make an amazing companion to a family who is willing to dedicate time and patience into structured socialization, training, and exercise. If this is you please email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application.
