Scooby is a wonderful hunk of a Shepherd who is estimated around 8 or 9 years of age. Scooby was originally with Tier Haven in 2015 and was a very rambunctious, rough and tumble boy. Scooby was adopted by an elderly couple who adored him in their own ways (lots of food) but was unable to provide an appropriate environment for Scooby. Like most Shepherd's Scooby doesn't appreciate strangers walking in the house or backyard and these individuals lived in a close-knit community where this happened frequently.
Scooby is an absolute lover with people he knows and is quick to warm up to new people. While he takes his job as household protector seriously he is not reactive with new people and is very affectionate with people. Scooby has been around children although his size tends to lead to him accidentally knocking them over on occasion. While Scooby is in his golden years don't let that fool you as he has plenty of energy and enjoys going for walks and playing with toys.
Scooby is fostered with other medium and large Shepherds without issue. Scooby used to be pretty inappropriate in play groups but seems to have mellowed a bit with age. He doesn't have any issues meeting new dogs or navigating play groups although he also isn't the type to care to play. Scooby is NOT small dog or cat friendly.
Scooby is currently on a diet and does have some hot spots that were deemed food allergy related as he was eating a large amount of low quality food. He is now on a grain free food and doing well.
This sweet guy is searching for a home that appreciates his loyalty and protective nature. If this is you please email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application.
