Clementine is a beautiful black Shepherd estimated around 3-4 years of age. Clementine was a stray in the Louisville metro area therefore we do not know her history or background; however, the condition she arrived in speaks to a less than loving life. Clementine has struggled to bond to people and isn't entirely sure where she fits or how to connect. Clementine can be a very sweet girl but is also an independent Shepherd most of the time. Clementine has a lot of 'herdy' tendencies such as circling and can be mouthy when playing with people. As she has settled into her foster home and begun to flourish more of this playful, albeit inappropriate at times, behavior has come out. Clementine is a middle energy dog and while she will certainly require plenty of exercise, training, and mental stimulation she also does well with lazy days binge watching shows. Clementine has done well with the other Shepherds in her foster home and has a more dominant personality in play groups. She likes to be in charge and will try to herd the other dogs. Those that tolerate her antics do just fine with her in the play yard but she does push others buttons. Clementine has a very high prey drive and is NOT cat or small dog friendly. Clementine is also a very bad resource guarder predominately with food. She has reached a point with her foster family where they can hand feed her and handler her minimally while she is eating; however, Clementine will growl at people and dogs over food. Clementine can only have food or bones in her crate and it is vital that these boundaries remain in place while her adopters establish a relationship with her. If you don't want a stranger eating off your plate at Cracker Barrel then don't ask Clementine to tolerate you being near her food at first.
