Big Max is a beautiful male German Shepherd who is approximately 6 years of age. Big Max is as loyal as they come and is searching for a home that will return his loyalty. Big Max enjoys being with his people and does great with children. He is ever present but rarely demanding much attention although you certainly know he is there. He is gentle, affectionate, and kind with people he knows and trusts. He is friendly when meeting new people but definitely prefers his people. He is ready and willing to go wherever he is asked, but is not overly energetic or demanding. Big Max is dog tolerant, and engages in minimal play, but takes part in no goofy nonsense. He is definitely the 'adult' of the play yard and the younger dogs learn to respect his boundaries. Big Max has been introduced to a dog who is around 30 lbs and did okay however he does have a higher prey drive and requires a careful introduction. We would not recommend him for a home with small dogs. Big Max is NOT cat friendly and is not suitable for a home with cats. Big Max has been waiting since April, 2017 for a home and has only been adopted once in that time frame. He was unfortunately returned because he began peeing in the house after a few weeks. According to their surrender form when they put him in the backyard he would just lay at the door rather than go use the bathroom. He wouldn't leave the porch unless they went out with him and they simply didn't want a dog that seemed 'anxious to be away from them'. Upon his return to his foster home Big Max fell back into a routine of staying clean and hasn't had any accidents since. Big Max is searching for a home that values his loyalty and will give him the love he deserves through his golden years.
