Bear is a stunning and large 2 year old male Shepherd. Bear was surrendered to the humane society by a property owner who claimed Bear had been abandoned by a tenant.
Bear is a very hyper and friendly young dog. He is going to need basic obedience training for sure as he can be a bit of a bull in a china shop. The vet techs at the shelter described him as "very wiggly" which can be very entertaining in a nearly 90 lb dog. Bear has a very puppy like personality and is overall a goofball. He has met children as young as 5 years old however due to his size and lack of basic manners we would not suggest him for a home with young children unless the parents are very experienced handlers ready to commit to the training with an understanding that the kiddos could get knocked down a time or two. Bear doesn't mean ill but he really doesn't realize his size.
Bear has been introduced to multiple other dogs and is figuring out the dynamics. He wants to hackle up and posture with other male dogs but hasn't offered any aggression. We have made sure to keep him around very friendly dogs of both genders to get him more accustomed to being social. He has not been around any dogs smaller than 40 lbs though. He was introduced to an adult cat who he showed a lot of interest in however we did not allow him close enough to see if he would offer aggression or just curiosity. He did try to chase her when she walked away and given his size and lack of basic obedience we would not suggest him for a home with cats.
Bear is looking for an active home that is willing to commit to providing him with consistent basic obedience.
