About Lady

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
Lady is a pretty young girl between a year and two years of age. Lady was a stray in a rural part of Kentucky which leaves us no information about her past life. When she was found by animal control Lady has a recent injury which left her without an outer tow on her left front leg. Lady has been a friendly and kind personality through all of her transitions. She didn't just get tossed into a foster home but also had to go through vet visits, crate rest, and daily handling of her injured foot. Through everything Lady has remained a loving and sweet girl. She can be a lot of energy when first meeting someone and doesn't seem to have had any previous training or manners. She is all love though. Lady has been around a 4 year old child and various people in and out of other places with no issues. She may need continued help containing her enthusiasm when meeting new people but there are worst problems to have. Lady has done well with the other dogs and has learned to play nicely. She has become more tolerate of the antics of the other dogs as her play group has become some rough and tumble young male shepherds. Lady can definitely hold her own in the play yard. While ultimately she is a more submissive dog Lady can be dominate on occasion. Lady will resource guard - specifically bones - from the other dogs. She has shown zero issues when a person handlers her food, bones, or toys but will growl at other dogs. This is an issue that will need to be monitored to ensure it doesn't grown into a larger behavioral issue. Lady's injury is nearly completely healed with only a small - perhaps pen tip sized - piece of skin still healing over. We opted to not amputate any of lady's leg because she was utilizing the leg more than not. While she will occasional hold the leg up she does walk on it and is able to bear weight on it. She also has not shown signs of any permanent nerve damage so although her leg looks funny due to the pastern being dropped it is functional. From past experiences dogs with similar injuries have been able to live long and healthy lives regardless of this deformity therefore we do not believe Lady will have any future issues related to this foot injury. Lady is looking for a loving home to help develop her manners and love her for who she is. If you would like an application to adopt Lady please email Tierhaven.petfinder.com.
