Booker is a handsome boy estimated around 3 years of age. Booker spent the first part of his life as a backyard dog with zero socialization and was surrendered to the shelter for becoming too protective of the yard where he lived. When Booker first arrived he was terrified of new experiences but over time Booker has blossomed into a loving and friendly dog.
Booker enjoys meeting new people although he isn't the overly top friendly type. Booker prefers to take a slow approach in getting to know someone but is friendly boy overall. Once he gets to know you Booker is a total love-bug and enjoys cuddling. He is just such a sweet boy and once he realizes that you are friendly he reciprocates ten-fold. Booker has been around children most of his life and is great with them. He can be a bit too rambunctious for a little-ones on occasion and like most dogs will require appropriate boundary setting between new children and he.
Booker is great with other dogs! He does wonderful meeting new dogs and has learned to navigate many social environments with other dogs including large play groups and home environments. Booker is tolerate of inappropriate dogs, and puppies, and playful with those that want to play. He does struggle a bit figuring out his spot with new dogs in a house - for instance when he went to spend the weekend with a new foster whose two dogs were roughhousing Booker simply watched and occasionally stuck his head in the middle like "I'm not sure what you're doing but can I join?". Once he settles in though he can be quite playful with the other dogs. Booker has been around small dogs and cats as well and always done well.
Booker has a wonderful personality with lots of love to give and is searching for a home to show him how adventure filled the world can be.
