William is a very handsome Belgian Malinois between 3 and 4 years of age. William originally came to us in 2014 at which time he quickly found a home with a family whose son was looking to do 4H Dog Club. Unfortunately due to a divorce the wife was left with 3 young children and a very energetic Malinois she had no idea how to handle. Equally unfortunate she did not realize that he was heartworm positive when they adopted him so she did not continue providing him heartworm medicine. William has lived in the house with multiple children and is a wonderful dog. He did become destructive though as more time passed with her being unable to exercise him and not providing any training. He essentially had free roam of this house to do as he pleased. William is a very big cuddle bug and enjoys giving "hugs" which come with the added guess game of him popping into your jaw in an attempt to give a kiss - bad habit we know. William has been around children ranging from newborn to 12 years of age and has always been very friendly and sweet with them. He is a large boy though so a family would need to understand he can accidently knock a kid over not realizing he isn't a lap dog. He fancies himself a lap dog though and loves anyone willing to love on him. William does great with other dogs his size. He isn't the most engaged playmate but he coexists peacefully. He does have a high prey drive true to his breed though and would not do well in a home with cats or small dogs. William will also chase livestock such as horses and circle a chicken pen. He is first and foremost a Malinois with the added benefit of being a cuddlebug. William has been re-started on the slow kill method of heartworm treatment with additional support of Young Living ParaFree since returning to our care. William is searching for a loving home that will dedicate themselves to his continued heartworm treatments, training, and cuddles. William will require plenty of exercise but will reward you with an excess of kisses.
