Cleo is a sweet girl estimated around 2 years of age. Cleo was a stray in the Louisville metro area and unfortunately we do not know anything about her life prior to being picked up by animal control.
Cleo has been a very sweet girl in her foster home. She loves people and has been introduced to young children (4 years old) with no issues. She stays close to the people and is a very good shepherd shadow. She can be timid at times and if you raise your voice - even if not directed at her - she will cower in fear. Unfortunately, we suspect her past hasn't been kind.
Cleo has been around other dogs in her foster home and does great. She hasn't totally figured out how to play but is starting to figure it out. The only issue we have seen with Cleo is that she does resource guard with other dogs - particularly bones or chews. She will let people take toys, bones, food from her however she will growl at other dogs. This is something that is pretty common for a stray who is used to having to fight over resources however her new home will need to be mindful of this and feed her separate. In most cases after 6 months of not having to fend for themselves dogs will stop guarding like this however there are variables to this. Already Cleo has learned to sit and take treats with other dogs sitting near her. She has gotten a lot of practice taking food from hands and not paying attention to the dogs around her.
Overall, Cleo is a very sweet young girl who is searching for a family to show her the joy of being a loved family member. Cleo has not been tested with cats however we would be happy to do so upon request.
