Sabrina is a beautiful sable female estimated around 3 years old who was a stray in the Louisville metro area. Unfortunately we lack any knowledge of her life prior to arrival at the shelter therefore our information on her is passed solely on what we have observed since she arrived in our care. Sabrina is an extremely active and energetic girl. She was nicknamed 'Spinner' in the shelter because she chases her tail (occasionally she even manages to catch it) and is working through a lot of pent up energy. Sabrina has been very friendly with all of the people she has been introduced to although she hasn't shown herself to be an overly affectionate dog. She is currently residing in 'la-la land' and hasn't figured out that people are a part of the world also. The more she is getting in the routine of not being confined and having ways to work out her energy the more she is realizing people exist and interacting. Sabrina is fostered with other dogs however she is not being trusted in play groups currently. She lacks all social manners but is a more dominate female. Some dogs she wants to play with and other dogs seem to set her off. She is still very pent up energy-wise and we haven't 100% figured out just what her exact mannerism with dogs is going to be. We hesitate to say that she cannot be around other dogs because she plays well with many of the dogs in her foster home however Sabrina still needs structure and supervision as she learns social manners. Sabrina would NOT be suitable for a home with small dogs or cats. She seems to possess a strong prey drive and likely would not adjust well to a home with either. Sabrina did test positive for Heartworm and has begun what is known as 'slow kill' treatment and is receiving additional immune support from Young Living Essential Oil supplements. Due to her high energy and the stress Sabrina is currently under she would not be a candidate for the typical Heartworm treatment of Melarsomine injections. Sabrina is searching for a home that appreciates her high energy nature and will help her work through her excess energy and lack of manners.
