John is a handsome German Shepherd estimated around 5 years of age who found himself in need of a home when he was picked up as a stray in Louisville. John seems to be a very self-confident boy and is very friendly with everyone he has met so far. He is a smart boy and with treats and patience quickly picked up on basic commands like "sit", "down" and "easy". He is very people orientated and seems to prefer people to other dogs. He is a very well behaved gentlemen and has a more grown up attitude compared to some of the younger dogs. His mannerism speaks of a loving past and he seems to be actively searching for a person to bond with. John has been friendly with the other dogs he has met but hasn't been overly playful or engaged with the other dogs. He has leaned more to the dominate side of behavior with the other dogs which is likely due to having been an intact male for 5 years. He has not been tested around cats or smaller dogs so we are unsure how he would do with either. John is searching for a loving family who will give him love, plenty of walks, play time, and a warm place to sleep at night.
