Lyla is a beautiful young shepherd estimated around 9 months old who was found as a stray in Louisville. Lyla didn't take well to the shelter life and became overly protective of a volunteer who spent extra time with her. Like most unsocialized shepherds Lyla has difficulty reading situations when her favorite person is involved and tries to fix what she perceives as the problem by barking. She is a pretty insecure girl and will need lots of love, patience, and socialization. When Lyla isn't confused about the situation she loves meeting new people and is a very sweet girl. She is a leggy young girl with lots of growing to do but likes to hop around. She hasn't figured out yet how to play with toys but is learning well how to play with the other dogs. Lyla was introduced to a cat just once and when she initially sniffed him she darted away scared. She then turned around and approached again and sniffed the cat calmly but then she backed away and barked at him. She seemed very unsure of the cat and her first response was to act like she was big and bad. She has the mentality of "if I act scary they won't hurt me" when she is a big softy in reality. This was a first introduction to the cat and in no way guarantees Lyla's future behavior with cats. Lyla is just a young girl searching for a special person to help her gain confidence and socialization while setting the boundaries that a young shepherd needs to become a well behaved member of the family.
