Avery is an adorable German Shepherd mix around 10 years of age. Avery was originally with us as a young adult dog when she came through the shelter as a stray. Avery spent the last 8 years in a pet home that surrendered her for no fault of her own. Avery is looking for a retirement home to enjoy her golden years with. 

Avery is a very sweet girl that practices the art of being a wallflower in new social situations. She is not the sort to immediately be your best friend but she isn't rude either - she just prefers people she knows. Once Avery has decided you are 'in' then you are in for life and she wants to be part of anything you are doing. She is still a pretty active girl for her age and enjoys supervising yard chores, going on walks, and of course decompressing with your favorite TV show. Avery has been around kids 8 years and up with no issue but does prefer the calmer, more settled kids overall. 

Avery doesn't mind other dogs and is mostly indifferent to them. She had not been around other dogs in her previous home so she was a bit defensive with them in her foster home but has adjusted well to them. She is not one to play and will appropriately reprimand the younger dogs for getting too pushy with her. Avery has been around barn cats which she wants to chase but also doesn't want to catch - she gets excited when she sees them from a distance but when they are in close quarters in the barn she ignores them. She could likely adjust to sharing the home with cats but may need some guidance. 

Overall, Avery is a kind-hearted senior who has had her life turned upside down and is looking for a soft place to land.
