Abigail is a beautiful young Belgian Malinois mix just over a year of age. Abigail was originally with us in 2019 when her mother (a Malinois) was found abandoned during a winter storm with a litter of puppies. Abigail was raised in a foster home until she was adopted at 5 months of age and was a rambunctious young girl. Abigail was unfortunately returned to us as her adopters were not able to continue her training and socialization as she enters her teenage phase.

Abigail is a bouncy, energetic, and active young girl who enjoys being a lap dog with the people she knows. She has lots of energy and is always looking for an adventure. Abigail is in the midst of her 'fear period' and is having to relearn that new people are friendly and safe. She can be reserved when meeting new people but is quickly won over with a good walk and some treats. Her on-going socialization through this is vital and we strongly encourage interested individuals to research Belgian Malinois and fear periods to have a good understanding of where she is in her development. Abigail has always lived with children and was raised with an 8 year old child who she adores. She is a typical large puppy and can be overwhelming when playing so we recommend Abigail for a home with children over 7 that are comfortable with large, working dogs. Abigail is an eager to please dog that is always looking for a job. She would excel in advanced obedience and/or a number of dog sports or as a hiking or jogging companion.

Abigail was with her littermates until 10 - 14 weeks of age and has continued to have great dog socialization. She has lived with other dogs of various ages and sizes with no concerns. She is a large pup though and would likely be annoying to most senior dogs or small dogs if not given another play option. Abigail currently has other Shepherds and Shepherd mixes in her play groups and enjoys romping with them. She has a good understanding of dog social manners and can navigate new dogs well. Abigail was originally raised with a cat but has not recently lived with a cat. She did well during cat testing upon her return but would likely require ongoing supervision to ensure she transitions back into life with a cat with good guidance on her behavior.

Abigail is a total sweetheart who values herself as part of the family and always wants to be in on the action. She is searching for a home that can keep up with her exercise, socialization, and adventurous needs through the rest of her life.
