Copernicus is a handsome young black and tan Shepherd male believed to be around 10 months of age. Copernicus found himself in the shelter after the court ordered his owner surrender 5 of their 15 dogs. We don't know any of the details of their life prior to surrendering but know that Copernicus is happily looking forward to a family of his own.
Copernicus has done a great job meeting new volunteers in the shelter and in his foster home. Copernicus can be a bit shy when first meeting new people but quickly warms up into his goofy, playful self. Coop has a heart of gold and is desperately looking for people to call his own. He is the sort of Shepherd that would sew himself to your hip if possible. Coop is pretty sure nice people hung the moon and he wants them to know he loves them. Copernicus has discovered the joy of the couch and is a pretty big fan of cuddles when he isn't trying to raid the cat litter box. Coop does well in the house but is a big boy who is unaware of his size so he does have a tendency to knock things over on accident. Copernicus is crated when he can't be supervised as well as at night and aside from some vocal protests he is great in his crate. Copernicus has had very limited interactions with children and although a little weary he has warmed up to an 8 year old that visits his foster home. Copernicus would likely need a slower transition to a home with young or rambunctious children he could likely adjust.
Copernicus currently lives with multiple other dogs of all ages and personalities and does a great job. Coop navigates play groups, treat time, and cuddle sessions well and has a great understanding of dog social dynamics. Coop tends to avoid conflict and is the sort to hide behind a human if the other dogs are getting too rowdy. Copernicus does live with a cat that he hasn't quite figured out but is doing well with. Coop likes to sniff the cat but runs away when the cat moves. Copernicus should be able to adjust to cats in a new home given appropriate introductions and transition time.
Copernicus is simply a wonderful young guy who is trying to figure life out. He is looking for a family to call his own that will give him the love and patience he needs as he figures out the world.
