Lilly is a beautiful young long-haired female German Shepherd who is estimated around 10 months of age. Lilly was picked up as a stray so we do not know her history prior to arrival in the shelter; however Lilly is looking forward to finding a loving family of her own.
Lilly is a very sweet and soft girl who can be shy meeting new people. She was vocal in the kennels at the shelter but hasn't shown any sign of that in her foster home. She is just a bit overwhelmed with all of the transitions and prefers people to take a calm, slow approach to getting to know her. Once Lilly has warmed up she is a goofy, playful, and kind young girl. She is very much still a puppy who is going to need guidance and socialization as she navigates these changes in her life. Lilly enjoys staying right near her people and is a very loyal, eager to please young girl. Lilly can jump fences and is happy to demonstrate that skill if you exit the fenced area without her - she will also jump back in if you leave her outside of the fence and is happy to jump between play yards depending on where you are. She is an agile girl although not over the top in her energy level which makes for a surprising combination. Lilly hasn't met any children at this time but would likely be best with older, calmer children right now.
Lilly is around other German Shepherds in her foster home and is learning how to navigate play groups - she uses her fence jumping to her advantage at her foster to avoid the rougher playing dogs. Lilly wasn't sure about the other dogs at first and was pretty overwhelmed by the other young dogs wanting to play. She hasn't yet figured out how to play but has figured out how to navigate other dogs with a good understanding of their boundaries and appropriately setting her own. Lilly has not been tested with cats or dogs under 30 lbs at this time.
Lilly is a light heartworm positive and has begun monthly treatment that will need to continue in her new home. We are happy to discuss the heartworm treatment we utilize as well as the other options that would be available to her adoptive family.
Lilly is searching for a fun, kind, and adventurous family to call her own. If you're the home for Lilly please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
