Buddha is a stunning male German Shepherd estimated around 3 years of age. Buddha was found as a stray and we do not know his history prior to that but we know that this sweet soul is looking forward to a family of his own. Buddha is a kind hearted, emotional, and loving boy who is very soft guy in many ways. Buddha can be a bit hesitant meeting new people but within minutes wants to be a lap dog. He is the sort of boy that thinks the sky has fallen if you raise your voice and overall really wants to please his people. He loves being right with people and unless crated will do what's necessary to get to where you are in the house or yard. He is the definition of a Shadow Shepherd and like most Shepherds he will become protective of 'his house' and 'his people' as he settles in. Without guidance Shepherds, Buddha included, don't know who or what is allowed to pass but given clear guidance and boundaries do just fine. Although Buddha is generally a very soft boy he will alert if he thinks something is off or if a stranger (to him) is coming in the house. Buddha loves to go on walks - although his leash manners are still rough - and car rides. He likes being part of the action whatever that may be. Buddha has been working to overcome storm anxiety and will panic over fireworks and very loud storms - he has been able to remain calm in his crate during lost storms recently but this is something to be mindful of in the future. Buddha has spent time around children 7 years and older that are dog savvy and he does great with them. He should be able to adjust to a home with older children given they are kind and patient with him. Buddha is a cowardly lion with other dogs and is generally hiding behind the humans during play groups. He gets along with the other dogs okay when he does interact with them but he can be very timid of them most of the time. Buddha has spent time around a very small, 6 lb, dog and done fine - any size dog can boss him around apparently. Buddha has tested okay with cats but not lived with cats therefore we cannot predict how he will adjust to cats in his daily life. Buddha is a kind soul that is looking for a family that understands the protective nature of Shepherds while holding space for his soft side as well.
