Kiara is a stunning female German Shepherd estimated around 3 years of age. Kiara was a stray therefore we do not know her history or background prior to arrival at the shelter in 2021. Kiara was adopted and was in a home for 6 months however she was returned for chasing livestock. 

Kiara is a kind soul, life of the party sort of girl - she enjoys staying near 'her people' as well as making new friends. Kiara is generally well mannered meeting new people and gets more playful as she gets more comfortable with them. She enjoys being part of whatever is going on and is particularly fond of chasing water hoses as her contribution to garden work. Kiara is well mannered in the house both in and out of her crate. Kiara has been around children 6+ years of age and absolutely adores them. Kiara would love to have a home with children and a place in their bed at night. 

Kiara has done well with the other dogs in her foster home. She is appropriate in meeting new dogs although she isn't big on playing with them at first. She has navigated play groups well and once she is settled in with a group she loves to romp. There was a younger dog in her previous home that Kiara enjoyed playing with endlessly. Kiara has not been around small dogs at this time to our knowledge. Kiara has lived with cats previously in foster and done well although a bit pushy. She did chase barn cats in her home though so she will require new cat testing before being placed in a home with cats.

Kiara is heartworm positive and began slow kill treatment (doxycycline and monthly ivermectin) in April 2021. She will need to continue receiving monthly ivermectin (Heartguard or another brand) until she tests heartworm negative. We are happy to discuss heartworm and heartworm treatment options via email.
