About Amos

  • Status: Available for Adoption (adoption info)
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with Tan, Yellow or Fawn
  • Current Age: 5 Years 1 Month (best estimate)

Amos is a handsome male German Shepherd estimated around 3 years of age. Amos was a stray at the shelter after being hit by a car so we unfortunately do not know his history or background. The state of his ears and lack of house savvy leads us to believe he may have been a backyard dog for quite a while though. Amos was able to heal wonderfully from the injuries caused by the car and has a clean bill of health.

Amos is an absolute sweetheart who take a minute to warm up but once he is your buddy he has zero concept of personal space. Although Amos can be reserved meeting new people he is still sweet and kind. He had to go through a lot of vet visits and always enjoyed being spoiled by the wonderful techs by the end of it. If you're part of his circle Amos is an attention hog and loves to be part of whatever you're doing. He is a jumper despite his previous injuries and hasn't yet figured out there are better ways of getting attention. Amos is great for grooming and brushing, wonderful in the car, and always a fan of a good massage. Amos has lived with a 10 year old child and is just as grateful for their affection as he is an adults. He has not been around younger children at this time.

Amos is a wild child in the play yard but is good with other dogs. He loves to romp, roll, and run which isn't the preferred style of every dog. He has done a good job learning to respect the boundaries of the dogs that don't want to play with him and stick with the ones that do. Amos has been around dogs 25 lbs and up with no concerns. He has not been around small dogs or cats at this time.

Amos is looking for a loving, fun home that will appreciate his goofy, playful personality. If you're the home for Amos please email us at tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
