Gretel is a cute young German Shepherd female estimated around 7 months of age. Gretel was a stray therefore we do not know her history or background prior to arrival at the shelter.
Gretel seems to have been a very sheltered girl and can still be timid in new situations. She is a generally sweet girl but is not the bravest of pups especially when there are strangers around. Once she has had a chance to check things out from a distance - and the other dogs deem it safe - she is a playful, cuddly, eager to please girl. Gretel likes her routine and is a smart girl who is happy to hold you to whatever routine you set her on. Gretel is still a pup and will need guidance as such but is overall very well mannered. She is currently fostered with a 10 year old child that she does great with.
Gretel is fostered with another puppy as well as adult dogs and is slowly figuring things out. When she first arrived Gretel was terrified of other dogs and would pull a fainting goat move when they came near her. She is now able to navigate play groups pretty well but does need human backup sometimes when the play gets too rough for her. Gretel is fostered with cats and has done okay with them overall. She has recently started to toy with the idea of chasing them but has been able to redirect easily and with continued training should do just fine with cats.
Gretel is an adorable pocket sized Shepherd that is looking for a family that will give her the love, guidance, and adventure young Shepherds need. If you're the home for Gretel please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
