Rita is a stunning young female German Shepherd estimated around 2 years of age. Rita was a stray therefore we do not know her history or background prior to arrival at the shelter.
Rita is a social, outgoing girl who loves to make new friends. She doesn't really understand personal space though and tries to make new human friends by jumping on them and giving lots of kisses. She is a very bouncy girl and loves to love. She is still learning that it isn't appropriate to jump on people and that she can't be mouthy when playing with her human friends. She will need guidance and training on appropriate behavior and how to channel her bouncy energy. Rita loves to be right with the people and would make a great hiking or jogging companion. Rita has been around children 7 years and up with no large concerns. However she is a big dog and can easily knock a kid over with her jumping so she is best suited to a home with children comfortable with large dogs.
Rita is a playgroup superstar and adores the other dogs in her foster home. She is quick to make friends and loves to romp, run, and roll around in the yard. Rita has been with dogs 30 lbs and up with no concerns. She is an active girl and at times a rough player so she may be a bit much for a home with senior dogs. She is currently respectful of the seniors she is fostered with but she gets plenty of play time with younger, active dogs. Rita has had a good preliminary cat test and has the potential to do well in a home with cats. We would recommend another cat test and slow, structured introductions.
Rita is an active, sweet girl looking for a home that'll give her the exercise and love a young Shepherd needs. If you're the home for Rita email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
