Murphy is a stunning 2 year old Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix. Murphy came to us from Western KY and according to the history the shelter pieced together has had 3-5 different homes in his short life with few showing kindness.

Murphy is learning to trust new humans and is ready to be a beloved family member. Upon first introductions Murphy is very shy and skittish. He hasn't had many positive interactions with people and doesn't let know how to navigate social situations. If given some patience - and treats - Murphy comes around pretty quickly. He is still jumpy with quick movements and prefers to observe the 6 ft rule while getting to know people. Once Murphy has warmed up you couldn't ask for a sweeter or more loyal goof ball. Murphy is such a bouncy and playful guy who loves to romp in the yard. He is learning how to enjoy toys and in the meantime makes a game out of sneaking up to nudge your hands when you're not paying attention. Murphy has not been around children at this time and given his level of reservation with new people we would not recommend him for a home with children under 12 at this time.

Murphy loves other dogs and takes many of his social cues from them. He navigates play groups well from romping and running with other young dogs to chilling with a bone during senior hour. Being around other dogs has helped Murphy to be more social with people as he doesn't want to miss out on the pets or treats they get. Murphy has had limited cat interactions and done okay but is definitely curious about chasing them. 

Murphy is searching for a home that will give him the patience and socialization to overcome his rough start. He is going to need time and is not the sort of dog to quickly and easily adjust to a new home; however, we know that whomever takes the time with this beautiful boy will have a loyal and steadfast companion in him.
