Big Al is a striking male Shepherd estimated around 2 years of age. Al was found as a stray and we do not know his history prior to arrival at the shelter. He has a very fun personality though and is eagerly looking forward to having a family of his own.
Big Al is a life of the party sort of boy who is quick to make friends. He is the sort of dog that you take to the park and let wander up to cute people so you can strike up a conversation – who could resist that face? He has a very loving and goofy personality that is quick to shine through as he earns the term of endearment ‘big lug’. Big Al truly enjoys people and is always up for an adventure – everything from hikes to photoshoots he is ready for it all. Big Al has met kiddos as young as 7 and been just as friendly as he is with adults. He has not met any younger children at this time. While Al is a big goof ball he is still a Shepherd though and requires clear boundaries and guidance to ensure he understands what is appropriate and what is expected of him.
Big Al does well with the other dogs in his foster home and is learning to navigate play groups with more ease. He is a big guy and sometimes wants to be the 'fun police' which requires a human to give him clear boundaries on what is his role. He has learned to play with the younger dogs but is also content just hanging out with the senior dogs in his foster home. He will push boundaries with other males but is generally respectful of the social cues he is given. Big Al does have a high prey drive and is NOT suitable to a home with cats or small dogs.
Big Al is searching for a home that loves his goofy personality but remembers he is a Shepherd and always loyal to his family. If you’re the home for him email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Adoptapet.com/Tierhaven for FAQs
