Emmylou is a beautiful female German Shepherd who is estimated around 7 years young. It is evident that Emmy hasn't had the easiest life in the past but she is ready to put that behind her and focus on life with an adoptive family.
Emmy isn't entirely sure what to do with herself and falls into typical 'herding' behaviors indicative of a dog that was kept in a pen frequently - circling and constant movement being her main traits. It can be a bit hard to get Emmy to focus to truly meet you but if you take her for a walk and move that nervous energy it clicks for her. Once Emmy realizes people will pay attention to her she loves it. She has shown herself to be a sweet, loving, and affectionate girl. Emmy adores children and really enjoys the 7 year old in her foster home. She can be herd-y still and accidentally knock a kiddo down so she is probably best suited with children 4 years and above who are steady on their feet.
Emmy gets along with the dogs in her foster home but isn't overly playful or connected with the other dogs. She takes all of her controlling tendencies and herding behavior with her into the play yard which makes it a bit hard to make friends. Many of the dogs tolerate her but she is a bit of a 'fun police' sort of dog and does best outside of the more rough and tumble play groups. Emmy has a very high prey drive and is NOT cat friendly. She would not be suitable to a home with cats, or other small creatures, and/or small dogs.
Emmy is a diamond in the rough searching for a home that is able to provide the patience and guidance to show her the finer points of life with a family.
