Karly is a sweet 6 year old German Shepherd female who has had a tough run of luck the last few months. Karly was discovered in a house with her deceased owner during a welfare check and was taken to the shelter when no next of kin claimed her. Karly was clearly devoted to her owner and had been well cared for so this was a large upheaval in her life. Karly came to Tier Haven and quickly found a home with an older gentleman that adores Karly. Unfortunately he had a fall while caring for his livestock which led to the discovery of very serious health issues and he had to make the decision to return Karly as he prepares for surgeries and treatments. Karly is shy at first and can be timid but quickly warms up to anyone who shows her attention. She has been around many new people, including children, and always been a wonderful girl with lots of love to give. Karly is very much a diva and likes to monopolize attention. Karly is the classic Shepherd shadow and will spend all day following her person around and making sure everything is okay. Karly has lived with other dogs and cats however she is a control freak in many ways. With her first adopter her two best friends were a yorkie and a barn cat who Karly would apparently nose into playing with her. In her foster home Karly is around other German Shepherds without issue however she has shown herself to be very bossy. Karly will need to be with dogs who either accept her queendom or are okay with telling her to back off and stop being the fun-police. As with all Shepherds this is behavior that can go either way and Karly will require a diligent owner to ensure that current pets and her acclimate well. Karly is a diva without a throne and is looking for a stable place to establish herself. She has been through a lot the last few months which is difficult for such a close bonding Shepherd however she still has lots of love to give.
