Jeffery is a very beautiful male shepherd estimated around 3 years of age. Jeffery was found running in rural Boyle county and unfortunately no one claimed this beautiful boy. We do not have any history on his life prior to arriving in our care therefore all of our information is based on what we have observed of him since coming to us. Jeffery is a very social and loving boy. He seems to have general manners and behaves as if he is used to being in the house. He doesn't have any issues or anxiety around strangers although he isn't the most outgoing and social boy. He wants to always be carrying a toy in his mouth - preferably a tennis ball however a water bottle is an acceptable alternative. If you start playing with him and stop he will pester you until he gives up and he will go play by himself. He doesn't typically initiate play though and unless you ask him to come up to you he doesn't seek out attention. His commands seem to be rough - or we don't know the right cues - but he does know to sit and down. Jeffery is currently fostered with other dogs and has had no issues. He doesn't want to play or roughhouse with the other dogs but he also doesn't like conflict either. He prefers to take his toy of the day and go play by himself although his may change as he gets used to the company of other dogs. Jeffery has been introduced to a cat and although he was mildly interested he does not fixate on cats. He will sniff them over and then he moves back to his toy or the person nearest him. He has not been left with a cat for an extended amount of time however we feel like a home willing to set the boundary and work with him would easily be able to help him adjust to life with a cat.
