Abraham is a handsome sable shepherd estimated around 6 years of age. Abraham came to Tier Haven over a year ago for rehab at 40 lbs and hairless. Abraham had been extremely neglected and was covered in mange. He has had a long road to recovery but he now has a clean bill of health and is ready for a family of his own. Abraham is an extremely goofy dog. Goofy and aloof are the best ways to describe him. Abraham is very loving with people and adores children. Abraham is very good about meeting new people and goes along with pretty much anything. Abraham does get along with other dogs but he lacks social skills. He will bark at the other dogs for no reason other than to bark. He doesn't fight - he has no desire to fight - he just has no idea how to play either. His fellow foster dogs are used to him and he has learned how to interact with them on a day to day basis. If things get rowdy though he will start barking again. Abraham is a very special boy to me (his foster) since we have spent so much time working to regain his health. While he is physically healthy Abraham has made a habit of mentally disconnecting from his body. The pain he endured prior to coming to us forced him into this coping mechanism and we are still working to overcome this. Many of his quirks come from this disconnection and we have found that when we utilize Young Living Essential Oils many habits - like the barking - subside. Abraham enjoys Raindrop Messages with essential oils and simply getting to smell various oils. I think these oils which have been used through his whole journey with us act as a tether back to his body and help him stop disconnecting. I sincerely hope his future home is open to continuing Abrahams oils as they have made such in impact in his emotional wellbeing and health journey.
