About Oma

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Black with Brown, Red, Golden, Orange or Chestnut
  • Reaction to New People: Cautious

Oma is a beautiful female Shepherd estimated around 2 years of age. Oma was a stray from rural eastern Kentucky so we do not know her history or background prior to arrival.

Oma is a very sweet girl that can be slow to give her heart but has lots of love to give. She is wicked smart and eager to please making her great companion for dog sports or advanced training. She is a routine oriented girl and likes to keep her human-ducks in a row if they wander off schedule. Oma is still learning how to be confident in new situations but improves with each positive interaction - treats are a quick way to her friendship. Oma does well with volunteers and visitors in her foster home including children 9+ years of age. She has not been around younger children at this time. Oma is an active girl who enjoys going on hikes and romping in the yard with her foster family.

Oma does great with the other Shepherds in her foster home. She does well meeting new dogs and enjoys playgroups with her canine friends. She does a good job navigating various personalities from grumpy seniors to pushy younger dogs. Oma has only been around dogs 35+ lbs at this time and would not be recommended for a home with small dogs. Oma is NOT cat friendly.

Oma is a wonderful girl that is looking for a patient and active family to call her own. If you're the home for Oma please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQs
