Steve is a handsome young German Shepherd estimated just over a year of age. Steve was a stray therefore we do not know his history or background prior to arrival at the shelter. 

Steve is a big goofy boy with those he knows and enjoys rubbing on legs for attention or romping with a toy. Steve wants to be wherever you are and is always up for a new adventure. He is a bouncy, playful guy who is still learning what manners he is supposed to be minding. However don't let his puppy personality fool you - Steve has a big bark and no idea when to appropriately use it. Steve has a huge heart and will quickly fall in love with you and protect you with his life. The problem is Steve doesn't know who he is protecting you from or that the person coming over is your friend. Steve is a quick learner though and when told to settle is happy to then befriend whomever he was barking at. Steve requires a home that understands guiding young Shepherds through this confusing stage of life though to ensure that Steve continues making new friends and not new bad habits. Steve lives with a 9 year old that he adores and in the appropriate home he would likely do well with other young children. 

Steve does well with other dogs from small, feisty puppies to opinionated Akita mixes and most anything in-between. Steve tends to be more submissive with the other dogs and is happy to stay under the radar hiding behind the humans if things get too rowdy. He does romp and run though with the dogs he knows and is generally well mannered meeting new dogs. Steve has NOT been tested with cats.
